In this work from the Children cycle, the figure concentrates more strongly at the center of the field, making it more immediately perceptible but no less precarious. The child image emerges within a constellation of aggressive marks, bright colors and dark inserts that continuously threaten its stability. The figure persists as a threshold: a fragile presence that asserts itself precisely because it never fully resolves. Antonio Sorrentino, Italian abstract painter, investigates here the relationship between presence and absence through painting that dialogues with the tradition of Pompeii's casts and the semiotics of Greimas and Eco.
